All of the people arguing that we don’t need universal health care because anyone can can get treatment at an emergency room are nuts. Emergency room costs are twice as much as a private doctor’s office. If a person can’t pay the cost, everyone else with insurance gets to.
Universal Health Care will massively reduce this problem. Why would anyone be against saving money?

It’s not the “saving money” thing we are looking at. It’s the FACT that Socialized Medicine ALWAYS lowers the quality of care provided! Research goes down the tubes. Immediate care, virtually STOPS. Some Bureaucrat somewhere decides IF you get adequate treatment, according to some Government “playbook”, instead of Medical Professionals.
Kind of like Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd, managing the Banking industry that is “doing so well”, NOT!!!!!!!!!
I do not want idiot Politicians ANYWHERE NEAR MY Health Care!!!

If you think government programs are a way to cut cost. I would please like you to point to one that has been a cost efficient venture for tax payers, because not one single one has. We’ve pumped trillions into social security to keep it going, when the truth be known for the FICA money withheld from the average persons pay check, they could easily take out their own personal retirement plan and have twice the yield when they retire as they would have with SSI . You say government is the answer, and I say to you. If the government is the answer, PLEASE do tell me, what program has the government taken over that has been a success especially when it’s a system like health care where the likely hood of abuse of services is huge and almost impossible to combat ? God bless.

The complaints come from people who already have healthcare and really do not care that much about those who do not.
I guarantee you, anyone who is against affordable healthcare for all already has it paid by their employer, or is wealthy.
Well, I live in Texas, and I have my healthcare paid for. However I do support universal healthcare. And I know many who do not have it because their employer does not provide it, and many many many do not. Or it is so expensive that people can’t afford it.
Republicans generally will be against it because they are puppets of the health care industry lobbies. And of course they have have their Republican lie machine in place to send out false information.
The health care system in the U.S. is ranked 37th, with over 30% without health insurance.
This is a disgrace.
The people who elected Obama wanted an overhaul of the health care system. I hope they keep in mind what the Republicans are trying to do come election time.

I recently read that each emergency room visit costs about $1,000, regardless of the method of payment. Only a tiny fraction of this is ever recovered from those who have no insurance.
An office visit is usually less than a 10th of that. People without insurance can’t get an office visit.
They are nuts, and deluded, also…

When I first read your question I thought you were one of those foolish people who did not understand that the cost of health was out of control and Obama is trying to reduce it,
I’m glad you see the light.
I’m hoping others with hate in their chest would pause, take some time to understand the situation and how it affects them now and will hurt even more later on and to look at the proposal more and have a change of heart.
I am in support of his efforts.

Maybe some form of Universal Health Care would save money.
The government analysis GBO of this proposal in congress now is that it would cost an additional one trillion dollars over 10 years, and insure an additional 16 million people. http://money.cnn.com/2009/06/15/news/eco…
From talking to people in the health care industry, they claim the main driver of increased health care costs is additional government regulation. Which is not likely to stop.

I wouldn’t say we enjoy it. Of course you’re wrong on that. The very reason premiums are so high is because those people wont pay their bills. Most of the 46.6 mil. that do not have insurance are the ones that will not pay for it, as long as they are healthy.
Health insurance would be a lot less if government staid out, not in. There is no government Utopia, my friend.

To Timothy.. I don’t know anyone in Texas that supports Universal Healthcare…
Maybe because we all work, and even I at 18 can get Health Insurance..
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
To AmaanB: That’s exactly like communism: Good on paper, crap in practice.

If you buy into medical insurance you will almost certainly be “paying a lot for other people’s medical expenses”…that’s the nature of the business.
Countries with universal systems have much lower per capita costs. The Right keep trying to pretend otherwise.

The republicans have scared their sheep, telling them Universal health care will result in rationing and they won’t be able to see their own doctors, all of which is untrue. Republicans politicians work for the corporations including the insurance companies.

You think it’s expensive now? Have you ever heard of a 200 dollar hammer or a 500 dollar toilet seat. The common man milks the government. you don’t think the medical industry won’t be making double even triple what they are now.

They have a poor grasp of the issue. Fortunately they are a very small minority since the vast majority of Americans support universal health insurance.

Because they are not greedy and self centered. They can think further than ME. They are those people who are against Universal healthcare and affordable college so everyone can have a chance at success.

Thank you. Many people do not know this, but I have to admit that the current price tag for the current bill is scary and won’t cover everyone that is uninsured.

I don`t think money should be involved period in health care. Money slows technology and treatments.
