Your doctors, or your private insurance company?
It is very simple, if you live in Canada, your doctor decides if you can have a treatment, and the government does its best to provide the needed resource.
If you live in the US, the private insurance company holds the right to decide if you get the treatment based on their profits and your contract with them, you and your doctor can only make the request.

So glad to hear socialized medicine is working so well for you , maybe you could tell the rest of the Canadians how to use that system , then they won’t have to flock to the US for their medical needs , AYE .

You forgot, if you don’t like the decision of you Insurance company, you can pay on your own and get the treatment you want.
You can drop the company you are with and change insurance companies.
You can read the contract when you buy your policy.
Can you get that from Obama? Or are you stuck paying for the Government plan through taxes even if you receive NO benefits?
Are you blocked by Government policy if the Government decides they won’t approve? Then you can’t get it without leaving the country?
Can you SUE the Government?

I have never had a single problem with my insurance policy denying any procedure for me,
I have family in Canada, my aunt had to wait 14 months to get an MRI and another 2 years to get the back surgery that she needed, I had to wait 2 hours to get my MRI and 2 weeks to get the same back surgery
also in canada the government will NOT pay for a drug that is used to treat cancer, that same drug is very popular in the US and saves lives everyday, you really should do a little research before asking such an ignorant question

I like the advanced medical directive that states exactly what I want. The only life saving technique that I stated was CPR. It is a good idea to fill out a living will and appoint someone you trust as your legal care giver if you can not speak for yourself. It states what you want in case you are unable to speak for yourself. Many people with terminal illnesses have filled out a Do not Resuscitate order so that they are no left hanging on while the family argues it out on whether to keep someone on an artificial life sustaining machine.

I think you are wrong, the private insurance pays but it may not pay the entire bill or it may forgive the difference
The proposed Obama care may determine what you can get if you wait on a long waiting list, if it is critical, you may pass away by the time you get treatment and they don’t care, they save money

When obama gets his health care package passed, you can forget about your health. Your Dr. will prescribe the medicine he thinks you need, then the government will tell you that they do not pay for that medicine, and that you need to take something that they approve. If you do not believe this, just look at the state Medicaid programs that are being used now.

Canada’s system is far superior, but south of your border, insurance companies have spent millions working up lying propaganda and using it to fool the unwashed masses into believing that “socialized medicine” – which is what they call your system – is the greatest evil since Cain slew Able. This despite that fewer than one in a million of us can accurately define the term “socialism”. Y’know what? I’m seriously thinking of emigrating! You got room up there for a thinking Yank?

Uh… yeah. If you live in Canada, the dr. tells you what you need, the gov’t. puts you on a waiting list and if you die while waiting for treatment then, oh well. No big deal.

I am. That is, after hearing all my doctor has to say, getting a second opinion(on major things) and hearing all the options open to me.
