What do they look for specifically, and what could disqualify someone from enlistement based on their medical exam? Do they have access to your previous medical records from private doctor’s vists? Do they contact your insurance to find out what you’ve been to the doctor for? I don’t believe I have anything to worry about, but I want to know A) What would they disqualify for), and B) Are they allowed to look at your medical records from private doctor’s visits?
Thanks!

At MEPS, you’ll have your blood pressure checked, do a breathalyzer (don’t drink alcohol the night before or you will be sent home), drug test, blood test (for HIV), vision test, hearing test, have a full physical, review your medical forms, and perform a bunch of weird exercises to demonstrate that your joints and muscles are all fine.
There are a lot things that are disqualifying — the big one is asthma. You can find a list here: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningth…
If you mark something on your medical form that would require further medical review (anemia, asthma, surgery, etc.), they will ask for you to provide previous medical records before they can qualify you. You also sign a form giving them permission to access any medical records they want. I don’t know if they contact your insurance, but I imagine they could if they wanted to because you give them that information too.
If you don’t have anything to worry about, why are you worrying?

lie lie lie lie!!!! they say that they will put you in prison for that but that not true. its just a scare tactic. if you fail one of the test such as depth perception i dont know if they will disqualify you or what, but if you cant perform one of the exercises then they will send you home for 2 weeks and tell you to come back.
