When Asking For A Salary Increase Can An Employer Bring Up Use Of Medical Insurance As A Reason For No Incres?

My wife has a chronic illness which has resulted in many dollars paid by insurance/employer to cover medical bills. My manager brought this up when I asked for a raise. Is this legal?

Absolutely not. That’s why the employer has insurance. Talk to a lawyer, especially if the employer said that in writing.

That all depends is it a union shop ? Where i work they just fired a guy who had surgery 2 remove cancer! The reason too much medical leave is it legal no! But the policy states when fmla is up (family medical leave act) the employer can decide 2 extend it or not! The guy they fired had worked here 12 years! They will get away with it they just have to change their policy. Do you have a copy of the policy? If not get one they can not refuse you a copy!Read it and find out how they have it written! It is a big loophole (the policy) it is like their own laws that can be changed on demand

NO!! That is completely illegal!! You may want to talk to a lawyer… they can not comment on your health or the health of a family member. If that was legal no one who had aids or was sick could get a job. SUE him!!
