Unless you’re getting tested for something within the urethra, I don’t think so. I think it’s protocol for testing certain STDs, but not for just a check up. All they’ll do is cup your testicles and tell you to cough.

I think what you are trying to ask about is a digital rectal exam, which is done to detect conditions such as prostate cancer in men. In that case, the doctor does insert a finger ( gloved and lubricated with something like KY) into the rectum, for the purpose of detecting any lumps or nodules in the prostate gland. The prostate gland is located under the bladder, and it surrounds the urethra, which is the tube that carries both urine and semen out of the body. This is why men who are in their 50′s and who have enlarged prostate glands often have problems with urinary incontinence, particularly if they have had surgery to remove cancerous growths and conditions.
What does the prostate do? It produces some of the components which make up semen, such as the glucose solution that the sperm must live on while swimming to their destination. As far as your exam is concerned, the only reason a doctor would do this type of exam on a young man your age is if you have a strong family history of prostate or testicular cancers. These exams normally are not painful, unless of course you have an infection in the gland or there is another problem, such as a tumor, present. The usual practice with most men is that you need to start having regular exams and blood tests for prostate cancer around age 40, and you are decades away from that. If this is an athletic exam, you don’t need to worry about it. However, with this said, you DO need to ask the doctor for a booklet which explains how to do a testicular self exam- all men need to do this once a month, starting at age 18. Testicular cancer is a major cause of death in younger men, but the good news is that it can be treated and cured if caught early enough. There are a number of prominent athletes out there who are survivors of this kind of cancer, so it really pays to know how to examine yourself, and to do it regularly. Lance Armstrong is perhaps the best known example of someone who survived a bout with this kind of cancer because he knew how to do exams. There are other notable people in this category, however, such as figure skater Scott Hamiton.
I hope this explanation helps you out some.

No. Well, it depends what he is looking for.
The only common invasive procedure Doctors use nowadays is 2 fingers in the rectum to check the prostate. But because you’re such a young man he/she probably wont do that.
Remember, it’s your doctor. If you feel uncomfortable about any of the procedures ask the doctor to explain it and explain why you are worried about it.

Sometimes there is some test that need a culture and that means a swab inside the penis to be sent into the lab for testing but that is not normal so the chances are you wont need too. Depending what you are going in for. If u think its a std they might do a blood test and he might look at it. If its a normal physical then no nothing will be stuck up there.
