What Motives Do You Want Directing Your Health Care: Profit, Or Health?

This news item was posted in Medical Information category and has 14 Comments so far.

Right now, your medical care is dictated by a third party. They can dictate whether or not you get the care you want. They come between you and your doctor.
They are called your insurance company, and if you are not making them a buck, they will try everything they can to disqualify you, to deny you service.
You might have another option. Someone else standing between you and your doctor: the government. Except the government doesn’t want your money. The government’s sole purpose is to MAKE YOU BETTER, in this respect.
Who would you want at the reins?

William F ..you have a lot to learn about profit.. Cures mean less profit, treatment is profit, unhealthy people are profit, fast food is profit, unclean air is profit….yes William F you need to learn a great deal about profit.
When a society is ruled by a market economy (Capitalism) profit becomes the over-riding consideration in all things….it makes one wonder just how many cures were squashed by the pharmaceutical and for profit health care industries.

Not true. I can always choose to reach into my wallet and pay for care that the insurance will not.
In a government system, the government has the goal of keeping the costs as low as possible. So they too are more focused on costs than your health. Plus, you lose the option to pay for it yourself if they choose not to.
With an insurance company, they have to satisfy their customers or else they could lose them to competing insurance companies. With the government running the show, they have no incentive to satisfy anyone as there’s no competition to go to.

If you actually believe that the government’s sole purpose is to “make you better”, I truly feel sorry for you. Democrats are pushing for socialized health care not because they give a damn about your health or want you to live longer! They are doing it because that is what their constituents want, and they are only interested in getting reelected. If the Dems truly cared about all those poor uninsured people, they would have forked out the measly 1B dollars it would have taken to buy all of them private health insurance. Instead, they have opted for a system that will cost 1T dollars and lower the standard of care for the entire population!

The 3rd party idea was created By Ted Kennedy. He created the HMO system. Now you think its wrong? I prefer a more capitalist approach. The very idea that a government employee(who cares nothing about me) will have the power to chose for me is disastrous. On that word, your right on the money, government will be a third party making the decisions, and if you think its going to be free, your in for a very awful surprise.

The government doesn’t want your money? The government sole purpose is to make you better? You don’t understand government very much do you? Your money is all the government wants period. And they really don’t give a rats *** about your health. If they did they wouldn’t be trying to gert involved in trying to run health care. If they really cared about your health they would pass a law on tort reform.

The governments sole purpose is to maintain a free society in which I keep what I earn and maintain a safe environment to do so. I can invest in what I want and I refuse to invest in a system which will not benefit me. In the long run, with rationing, it will only shorten my life-span. The long-run matters, even if we are all dead we still have future generations to maintain for. I prefer profit to invest freely.

A third party entity (insurance companies) have been ruling our healthcare ever since Hillary handed them the golden key in 1992. That is where and when our costs started soaring and our choice of care became limited. Before her last ‘effort’ doctors controlled what care we received. This is fact.
All these dems want is to get their hands on our monies so they can use them to protect some swamp rat whose life they deem more important than ours.

Profit. Without it Quality and innovation suffers.
Prove me wrong. What is to motivate people to come up with new medicine and procedures. Good will? Yeah right.
Let me tell you something. If the government didnt subsidize the insurance industries it wouldnt cost so much.

Health, not profit. The right wing nuts have the same old arguments that they tried in Switzerland. Now the very independent Swiss would never go back to a US style system.

I don’t understand where this insurance crap is coming from. I do just fine.
Of course, I never get sick, do I? :]
