What Is The Class Bias In The Obama Health Care Plan?
The plan is NOT biased toward the poor or the working class.
The Obama administration’s push for health care “reform” has exposed the class realities that dominate American politics and the social interests which Obama defends.
Under Obama, the issue of health care reform has been shifted from providing decent medical care for all to slashing the cost of health care to businesses and the government, primarily by cutting costs for Medicare and fundamentally changing the nature of the Medicare program.
Depending on his audience, Obama at times seeks to conceal the reactionary essence of his proposal by presenting it as a plan to provide health insurance to the uninsured. But even if his plan were enacted in full, it would still leave an estimated 18 million Americans without any form of health coverage.
In a blitz of interviews Monday and Tuesday, Obama refused to endorse a provision of a House version of his health care plan that would impose a small tax surcharge on the rich. Under the House plan, individuals making more than $280,000 a year or families earning more than $350,000—about 1.2 percent of US households—would be required to pay the surtax. For a family making $500,000, the surtax would amount to about $1,500.
The tax surcharge provision was included in a bill passed by a House committee last week, and within days the head of the Congressional Budget Office issued a highly critical report declaring that Obama’s reforms would not slow the rise in health care costs and suggesting a tax on employee health benefits.
This sequence of events was not accidental. The media, speaking for the ruling class, has been overtly hostile to the tax surcharge, complaining that the provision would unduly penalize the rich.
For their part, the Republicans oppose any expansion of government-backed health insurance, and are calling for even more draconian cuts in existing programs.
There was a time when Social Security and Medicare were considered the “third rail” of American politics. “Third rail” refers to the electrified rail on subway train tracks, the implication being that if you proposed cuts in Social Security or Medicare, you were, politically speaking, a dead man.

Obama is the latest in a line of carefully elected (selected) individuals to pose as President under a process laughably called “free and democratic elections” which are run by…(drum roll)… a private corporation.
At election time we had two choices: a slightly psychotic senior citizen with mild dementia or a well spoken carefully groomed man who presented himself as a “man of the people” when in fact he was -and is- a corporatist. As such he would son run a country whose form of government is an Establishmentarian Fundamentalist Corporatocracy.
It should then come as little surprise then that he favors the interests of the elite rather than the masses.
The way health care is headed it looks like we’re going to replace garbage with new garbage which will benefit the health insurance industry, rather than with a single-payer system as it should be.
Critics of the single-payer system like to dangle Canada and the UK as (bad) examples and as a reason not to have it, rather than citing countries like Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and other European nations where health care is excellent. E.g. in a recent survey the number of individuals who were dissatisfied with the German national compulsory system is only 11%.

Its’ high time that we stop coddling the ultra wealthy and their cohorts and start to return the larger part of the working economy to those that produced it through the sweat of their brow rather than the cunning of their indifference and the extent of their greed.

What you’re saying makes a lot of sense. Obama is too conservative to support real heal reform, which means single-payer. He obviously doesn’t give a flying fug that our tax dollars will be subsidizing the cherry-picked profits of the insurance racket.

The bias is toward the “rich.” They have to pay for all this crap! They pay for the irresponsible people that choose not to get coverage and they pay for their own coverage.

As with all his plans, Carbon Tax, Job Loss, Housing Market, Economy, and now Health Care he has shown time and time again to be nothing more that a smooth talking extortionist.
On Cap and Trade he suppressed an EPA study showing carbon emissions and greenhouse gases were not man made. As more came forward in agreement he informed us it was now a fact. CLICK $2 TRILLION.
On the economy, housing and job loss he said if the Stimulus Bill was not passed unemployment would jump passed 8% summarizing all other options leading only to doom and gloom. CLICK $787 BILLION.
Now Health Care, inflating the numbers of the uninsured, telling horror stories of ones denied life saving care. During my life I have never been turned away from any medical care I have needed, insured or not. Also no treatment involved being mandated to receive counseling on using suicide as a cure.
These trillions of funds will be taken from both rich and poor , left and right, and ups and downs. Half of it will be funneled into his ever growing monster of a government at the expense of the old. CLICK NATIONAL DEFENSE FORCE
This country has passed laws allowing close to 60 million of the most innocent of us all murdered in some of the most horrifying ways possible. Now we are going to lawfully allow the killing of our most knowledgeable and frail. We borrow trillions from other nations while printing trillions more with nothing to back it up. A nation of morals, a nation of compassion, charitable deeds and individual rights ? Or a mentally sick, greedy, and dying welfare state ran by tyrants?

Conservative Republicans usually represent the interests of business owners, and business owners will be expected to contribute more money to health care. Liberal Democrats usually represent the working class that will benefit more from the health care changes although from their work and purchasing of goods and services they will contribute a lot of money to health care, too. Yet, in all probability, the greatest sources of friction against health care are the health care businesses, medical professionals, hospitals, and insurance companies because they will be forced to make the most adjustments for national health care. A lot of blame is being thrown around to deflect the blame from the real sources of the failure to establish a reliable health care system for Americans–Obama just has the largest target painted on his back.
