you must have your father take you off his plan. if they knew you were married – they would drop you . it is illegal to ‘double dip’ anyway. it would be okay to have a secondary plan that would pick up the charges your husband’s plan doesn’t cover if that were worthwhile.

There is nothing wrong with having two health insurances. Just be sure which one is your primary. Sometimes having two insurances helps with out of pocket costs if you have to have a surgery, etc.

I doubt that you are still covered under your father’s insurance. More than likely when you married he dropped you from his policy, if not he should because most policies have requirements for dependents (such as unmarried, under a certain age, and/or full time student) and if he is paying for your coverage he may be throwing his money away.

No, it is not a bad thing. It is a very, very good thing, actually.
You have secondary insurance. You need to decide which is primary. When you are completing medical forms, be sure to list your coverage under both policies.

No…if it is cost effective for you then consider yourself lucky! It means that you are essentially covered for 100% of medical claims as one provider will be primary and one secondary. Let them figure it out…and you’ll be completely covered in most any circumstance.
