    No one knows yet.
First of all, Obama is not going to bring in universal healthcare. He wants to make insurance more available to all.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

No, even socialist countries have private doctors, and I don’t think he will take it that far. They just don’t work within the public system. If someone wants to pay them privately, out of pocket, they can. If they want to work within the system and profit from it, then of course, they will have to follow the requirements. It already works that way. A private doctor can refuse to accept medicare patients as long as he doesn’t try to benefit from medicare.
Mountain man, we know it costs money. And as taxpayers, a lot of us would like to see our money that goes to taxes actually used for our welfare, on healthcare, instead of being blown on pointless wars to make money for Dick Cheney.

    lets cut to the chaste…
Health care in this country is way too expensive.
If you go visit a dentist and spend 1 hour and a half in his chair for a procedure, you may have to pay him as much as $900 dollars just for the service rendered.
If you go to a clinic complaining that you knee hurts when you play tennis and you are seen by just a primary doctor and a specialist on a subsequent visit for a grand cumulative total of 30 minutes and a couple of Xrays taken, you may come out of that owing more than $600 dollars.
    etc..etc…..
The correct solution is to let all those who love the current system to go ahead and keep their plans, but to also have an alternative choice that every citizen could opt for if they wish. This plan would be something like comprehensive health, dental vision coverage for $100 a month for any adult and $40 a month for every child…period end of story….no deductibles…and whatever the cost of any care you need is paid up to 85%. The patient picks up the remaining 15% up to a personal maximum per patient per year of $1,000 at which point once you have spend that much as part of your copay you get 100%.
Govt would mandate specific prices for specific procedures to make sure downward pressure is put on prices.
We also need to provide more free tuition assistance to encourage more people to enter the health care field and to not burden them with excessive debt.
