    I don’t quite understand. You used to work for the city, but you left that job. Was that a while ago or recently? The really confusing thing is “because I own the house that I rent”. I think you mean you own a house the you are renting to someone else. Is the income you get from the house the problem? Does it put you over the maximum allowable income for SSI and medical coverage??? Medicaid? Do you have another job? Where is the father? Can he cover them? There just not enough information to really answer you.

    I assume you are trying for state subsidized insurance and you don’t qualify. You simply buy insurance on your own.
