Yes, this is a good book with helpful information; however, it is not easy to individualize most of what he’s telling you without going to his clinic. Whether that was his intention or not, that is the result. In fact, it’s suggested that some supplements may be detrimental to you depending on your individual needs, so how can you know unless you either go to the Block Center or find a doctor willing to go to these lengths? I guess I have to agree that it feels a bit like an advertisement in the end.

I realize it’s not possible to individualize to a great degree in a book, and that there could be legal issues in trying to say you have specific answers for treatment, etc. So why did he go as far as he did only to then make your getting ALL the information dependent on going to his Center? I think it’s a shame to lead people on that way. Maybe they could afford the book but can’t afford more health-care or to travel. The supplements aren’t covered by most insurance, so then what? That’s if you’re lucky enough to have insurance.

I did go, and I think anyone who is thinking of going should know that the supplements they sell are extremely expensive. It was disheartening, especially when you’re so afraid that if you don’t do everything they ask your chances of staying cancer-free aren’t as good. Expect to pay hundreds of dollars a month. Who can afford that? For how long? It’s a sad state of affairs and points again to the notion that only those who “have” are able to get the best health-care available. I also felt that the way he talks about the Block Center is not exactly how it is when you get there. It feels very much like a business, which didn’t exactly scream “healing” to me.

Once again, the book has good general information, but so do several other books. No one doctor has all the answers, so learn to trust your gut and try not to act from a place of fear. I know it’s hard to do that at a time like this, but it is possible. There’s no one that knows your body as well as you do. He may be a wonderful man and doctor, but if he’s managing your care by selling you something (his own supplements), it raises all sorts of red flags for me.

As someone who has explored and written many books and articles about health-related issues for more than two decades, I’ve long been aware of the innovative treatment approaches developed and implemented by Dr. Keith Block and his staff at The Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment. Dr. Block is very highly regarded by many of the leaders in the field of holistic and integrative medicine and rightly so, because his approach to treating cancer truly is integrative and addresses the “whole person.” Having now read his wonderful new book, I can say without reservation that it belongs in the homes of all of us, for, directly or indirectly, cancer affects us all. Not only is Life Over Cancer comprehensive and authoritative, it is also very easy for physicians and lay people alike to understand, and it contains everything readers need to proactively prevent and deal with cancer. I give it my highest recommendation! – Larry Trivieri Jr

I found this book able to provide fulfilling answers to questions that are often answered leaving more questions in mind – by tying life style management with conventional medicine. A complete look at wellness backed by a physician dedicated to patient wellness – not just a temporary relief of symptoms, or solutions limited to conventional, off-the-shelf medical answers.

In an industry that is highly fragmented in its approach to patient care, and one that is lopsided based upon pharma and technology influence, this is a refreshing and satisfying formula for achieving victory over a horrible disease. Kudos, Dr. Keith Block!

This book is good but very self serving. It is obviously just an advertisement for the author’s institute, repeatedly extolling the successes (which sound real) of his cancer treatment methods and hinting at the potential for personalized treatment options. I’m sure Block does excellent, meaningful and worthwhile work, but unless you’re interested in working with his clinic, skip this book and read Anticancer: A New Way of Life. It provides essentially the same messages and information without all the anecdotal success stories and clinical statistics.
