Only if dying in the waiting room of the hospital sounds appealing to you. Canadians that actually work hate the system and a lot of people have to pay out of their pocket to come to the U.S. to have major procedures performed due to the ungodly long waiting lists.
The quality of doctors are not the greatest either. My daughter had a genetic disorder that could have killed her and the doctors there never diagnosed it despite us insisting that there was something wrong. Thankfully, when we moved back to the U.S., an elementary school nurse diagnosed it on my daughter’s second day of school.
The doctors there get paid on how many patients they see. So if you have a serious problem, like an aneurysm, they’ll treat you for headache first, then maybe it’s your diet, etc., until you die and they can’t hit the government up for more money.

Here is the problem with ‘free’ medical care….. yes, you will be taken care of… However, for life saving procedures, there is often a waiting list for it, with many dying on the waiting list. Many Europeans and Canadians often come to the US because they cannot wait any longer. Also, many europeans buy supplemental insurance to get better care anyways. Does something need to be done with our healthcare? Absolutely. Although we should look at national health coverage of other countries to learn from it and find out what works and what doesn’t, we cannot look to Canada or Europe as our panacea.

The Canadians I know are very happy with the health care, but they also complain about the much higher tax rates that cover that care.
