You need to see a doctor for prescription medication.
You can compare prices between pharmacy’s. Check in Wal-Mart. They have several $4 prescriptions.Be sure to know the dosage and amount.
    Good luck.

You need to see a doctor to get a prescription.
You should really look into the MySimpleCard membership,
it will save you money both on glucophage/metaformin and
also on the doctors visits that you need. They have special
deals on diabetes supplies also if that is what you need.

My parents are both diabetic and did not have health insurrance for a while. So my friend told me about getting them online. We found this website that can send you the meds without a prescription. its a lot cheaper.
but i suggest you do that if there is no other option. I was doing that for my parents for a year until they got medical insurance this year.
    i hope this helps

that i can answer. metformin can only be gotten through a doctor but you can see a free clinic for that because chronic diseases like diabetes are generally covered by medicaid.
nevertheless i bought my metformin today in cvs pharmacy in pittsburgh and 60 tablets of 100mg each (i take the maximum dosage possible) costs approximately 13 dollars without insurance (that is what the label says at least) my insurance covers it and i end up paying 3 dollars.

    This is a close estimate:
    Glucophage XR
    500 mg (60 ea): $48.99
    850 mg (60 ea): $96.33
    1,000 mg (60 ea): $117.06
    Glucophage
    500 mg (60 ea): $47.99
    750 mg (30 ea): $34.99
The bad news is that these are perscriptions meds so you still need to see an MD.

You could visit a county clinic or university hospital and see a doctor for little or no money. Metformin is on of the drugs on the Walmart $4 generic program. There’s no way to get a precription without seeing a healthcare professional so look into the clinics. You might also call your local salvation army and united way to see if there are local programs to help you. Also, once you have a doctor and prescription you might be able to get the brand name medications you need through the drug companies themselves. check pparx.com to see whether the drugs you take are part of a program and find out how to apply. Good luck.

you must be under the care of a MD. In some areas you can get this RX filled for as low as 4.00 (wal-mart) Kmart does it for a 90 day supply for 15.00. If you are low income there may be a sliding fee scale clinic in your area that you could go to (to see the doctor)
