Of course its not free, but we already pay more money per capita for our current healthcare than most other developed countries (including countries with nationalized health care).
With the right system, everybody will be get medical care, we will control costs, and we will actually spend less money than we do now.

Well you have people like the 1st answer who are under the delusion that health care is a right so I would say about 50% of the people on this board.
And the argument that we spend more money per capita on health care also coincides with the fact that in America we have higher incomes then anywhere else in the world. We also have the highest quality of health care then anywhere else in the world. These are facts.

    Pop Quiz
Can you identify the source of this ?
    l
“The inflation produced by the XXXXXXXXXXXX Administration has struck hardest in the area of health care. Hospital costs are rising 16 percent a year—four times the national average of price increases.
We pledge to encourage the broadening of private health insurance plans, many of which cover hospital care only, and to review the operation of government hospital care programs in order to encourage more patients to utilize non-hospital facilities. Expansion of the number of doctors, nurses, and supporting staff to relieve shortages and spread the availability of health care services will have our support. We will foster the construction of additional hospitals and encourage regional hospital and health planning for the maximum development of facilities for medical and nursing care. We will also press for enactment of XXXXXXXX-sponsored programs for financing of hospital modernization. New diagnostic methods and also preventive care to assure early detection of physical impairments, thus fostering good health and avoiding illnesses requiring hospitalization, will have our support.
Additionally, we will work with states and local communities to help assure improved services to the mentally ill within a community setting and will intensify research to develop better treatment methods. We will encourage extension of private health insurance to cover mental illness.
While believing no American should be denied adequate medical treatment, we will be diligent in protecting the traditional patient-doctor relationship and the integrity, of the medical practitioner.
We are especially concerned with the difficult circumstances of thousands of handicapped citizens who daily encounter architectural barriers which they are physically unable to surmount. We will support programs to reduce and where possible to eliminate each barrier in the construction of federal buildings ”
    To your Q
If you were really informed you would know that
    >Hospitals are legally obligated to treat sick people on an emergency basis regardless of their ability to pay
    >>ERs are the most expensive way to treat an illness
    >>People who don’t have access to health care and therefor regular doctor visits and check ups will put off going to a doctor until they have no choice in the mattter with the end result being that their minor and easily treatable illness becomes extremely expensive to treat and often has a less than positive long-term prognosis
    >aka the Jiffy Lube Paradigm
    >>The bottom line is that a population that has access to regular health care must inevitably be more cost effective for society than one that doesn’t.
    Update:
The answer to the pop quiz is………
    The 1968 Republican Platform
The first set of X’s cover” Johnson -Humphrey” and the second set cover “Republican “

Notice the use of the word “affordable” that means you want me to help you pay. Health care is not a right because if it were the constitution would have provisions for it. The fact that the politicians want it so bad is getting votes 1st of all but they in their warped sense think they can combine it with medicare and get that hugh debt hidden in something that the 52% of the voters will swallow.

Anyone with a brain knows that SOMEONE will pay. But liberals are in for a surprise when Obama taxes their “health care benefits” as income.

No one (that is espousing it) has said it will be free, only that, like medicare which is also NOT free, it will be affordable for everyone.

If you want honest answers to your question, perhaps you ought to ask it in a less insulting manner?
I don’t think you really want honest answers, though, do you?
