It’s very possible that your parents will find out that you were at the hospital and somewhat possible that your parents will be able to find out *why* you were in the hospital. Are you able to check their mail before they do? Maybe you can pull the Blue Cross statement out of their mailbox before they even know it exists.
If you are a minor, your parents can request your medical records from the hospital just by signing a release form. Then they will definitely know why you were there.
Where I work, I see minors come in for detox, STD screenings or other embarassing medical complaints, and many of them don’t want their parents to know about it. If you don’t want your parents to find out, don’t give the registration people at the hospital your parent’s address or telephone # and request to be a self-pay.
Being self-pay means they would send you the whole bill at whatever address you give them (instead of billing your parent’s insurance). Then you could set up a payment plan or arrange some kind of settlement offer. If it’s not too late, call the hospital and ask them to NOT bill your insurance to avoid the risk of your parents finding out.

When they get the bill, it will list the tests, etc. However, if you are a minor, they can call and find out. The patient medical record is private but chances are they’ll be able to ascertain why you went from the bill.
