For Canadian Conservatives: How Do You Feel About Your Nation’s Health Care System?

I’m from the US and the reason why I am asking this is because I recently saw the Michael Moore film “Sicko”. In one scene in the film, Moore talks to a Canadian man who says that he is a member of the Conservative Party AND that he supports his country’s health care system. I found this really interesting, because here in the US, a lot of conservatives are dead set against socialized medicine, because they fear that we would be taxed to death and that our choices would be limited regarding our medical care. What’s your take?

    It is an absolutely amazing system..sure if I have a sprained big toe I may wait hours, but anything serious and/or life threatened is triaged and fast tracked…what Americans are told are outright lies and always, when traveling in the US, they gather around amazed at the stories I tell them..it is not socialist, as we pay a premium based on our income…I paid 600$ on 80 thousand and I get full coverage, no disputes, for free…so, if Americans wake up and talk to the above 70% who love the system, they too may eventually have a universal system..the ones who cry the most about dismantling the Canadian system are the ones who can easily afford expensive treatment but the average guy cannot and he is well taken care of…all use the same system, rich or poor, so the rich and powerful can keep the service in top order, the resulting effect is a system that is maintained and fair…anyone who dispute what I say, I dare you to challenge me.

    I’m not Canadian, but I do have friends that I’ve known for over 17 years who are Canadian ex-pat’s. I’ve heard it from them many times that the Canadian system doesn’t work and their taxes are too high. The funniest part is they say all their doctors are foreigners since all the good doctors leave Canada to work in the US…

    I am curious how many people didn’t like the health care system and didn’t make the final movie because they didn’t support Moore’s point of view.
