In the recent New Hampshire debates, Rudy Giuliani defended his decision as New York Mayor to give illegal aliens medical care, despite their ability to pay, and proclaimed it the “humane thing to do.”
This is not to question whether giving medical care to anyone is right or wrong, regardless of national origin. As a voter, I’m just curious if Mr. Giuliani still supports allocating limited resources to illegals on an ongoing basis, just because these people are here in the U.S.and regardless of how they got here.

No reason to believe he’d change his view about compassion issues. However, a good question is what he WOULD do about illegal immigration–fence, better checks on who gets in, etc.
The fact is that the bulk of illegals WOULD self-deport, as we are already seeing in areas like Arizona where the states finally have started taking action refusing freebies for illegals and checking that someone is here legally in order to work. This is a correctable problem.
That still, however, would not resolve the problem because Americans do not seem to ever discuss “compassionate entry.” Our Border Patrol is specifically told to let illegals who are sick in knowing the US taxpayer is going to eat the bill. Check out this Time cover story:http://www.time.com/time/magazine/articl…
“Dickson emphasizes that not all the free care is going to illegal aliens passing through on their way to other states. About half goes to Mexicans who use the Copper Queen as their personal emergency-care facility. In effect, the hospital, which performs general surgery, has become the trauma center for that stretch of northern Mexico. If an ambulance pulls up to the border-crossing point near Bisbee and announces “compassionate entry,” the border patrol waves it through, and the Copper Queen is compelled to treat the patient. It is one more program that Congress mandates but does not pay for. “If you make me treat someone,” says Dickson, “then you need to pay me. You can’t have unfunded mandates in a small hospital.” Although the Medicare drug act that passed last year provides for modest payments to hospitals that treat illegal aliens, Dickson says there is a catch that the U.S. government has yet to figure out. “How do I document an undocumented alien? How am I going to prove I rendered that care? They have no Social Security number, no driver’s license.’”

I have not heard him suggest he had changed his mind. He calls it a public health issue, but delivering babies to illegal aliens is hardly a public health issue if provide Certificates of Birth that make the child of an illegal alien a citizen. (That citizenship also opens the door to a huge amount of welfare and at least some of it comes out of the Social Security Funds.)
Arizona is providing Birth Certificates that indicate the parents are NOT citizens, and they do not receive Social Security Benefits. Ask your reps about doing that in your state. http://www.congress.org

I don’t think it matters. The way he keeps skipping out of primaries and debates, I don’t think he’s going to even be a factor anymore. Which is a shame, I’m not too enamored by Huckabee or Romney for that matter.

because he’s a republican! they would rather pay refugees and illegals than take care of you and me. The grease fire that burned my arm severley and left me out of work and starving didn’t bother them AT ALL, and never will. They’d rather exploit a mexican for less than minimum wage by offering FREE benifits while you and I starve, loose our homes and pay their retirement and health insurance.

Once again we have a do good-er that makes millions for himself in his private life after using his contacts from his public life, becoming very wealthy but then turning around and demanding the public open their pocket books to those who not only have no right to be here, but will bankrupt the system while he lives high on the hog, while we pay the price both in our wallets and way of life. Maybe Rudy could part with some of this millions to ease the burden on the tax payers, but no he has way to many ex’s to support
