Depends on who you ask. In Western Europe, we have universal health care. In France, the government is not socialist, and the same is the case in many other countries.
And, in western Europe, we have better healthcare outcomes. We pay less per person that you do in the US and have longer life expectancy and lower infant mortality rates.
