I wanted to see if there is a way to be on someone else’s medical insurance in the state of California if we aren’t legally married?

I don’t think so, but if you need, there are free health resources from the government.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/finan…http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/http://ask.hrsa.gov/pc

If you are female, then the the answer to your first question is yes, marry him.
If you are female and you are both under 65, then the answer to your second question is no.
If you are male, then the answer to both questions is yes. Registered domestic partners have the same rights under California law as married couples. However, federal taxation of employer-provided medical insurance is different. Note that private companies may have more restrictive policies. Employers are not required to offer coverage to any non-employees, whether married or single.

Not unless his insurance company is one of the *very* few that provides benefits to domestic partners. You’d have to check with the insurer or with your boyfriend’s HR department to find out.

Become his wife.
Very few employers allow girlfriends on their employees health insurance.

Yes. Get married.
Or, get a job that has health insurance.
