Do Americans Who Can’t Afford Adequate Medical Insurance ‘deserve’ Universal Health Care?

Healthcare is a component of every human being’s right to Life.
Life ( food + water + shelter + healthcare + education) + Liberty ( rule of law + equal justice ) = The Pursuit of Happiness.
A sensible form of universal healthcare is a good business decision for We the People.
If the rich do not agree to share enough of the wealth of the Earth with the masses, the masses will eventually take it or the rich will have to kill them all and they will have nobody to exploit.

    They already have it. It’s called Medicaid. I know a guy that got a quadruple bypass on Medicaid because he truly couldn’t afford it.
    I’m against providing “free” health care to those riding around in a Lexus, doing coke and saying they cannot afford insurance. I know some of them too.

    You ever wonder, why people blame the insurance companies, for people not having access to affordable health care ?
    Shouldn’t they be blaming the Doctors, nurses, hospitals that charge them so much ?
    The insurance companies, don’t set the rates charged for medical procedures.
    So should the government, force doctors, nurses and hospitals to take a 70% pay cut, so everyone could afford thier services ?
    If so, then should the government force auto workers to take pay cuts, so everyone could afford a new car ?
    Should the government force construction workers to take pay cuts, so everyone could afford a home ?
    Just where will it end ?
    Do you really think the government, should be allowed to control how much you make ?
    I don’t think so !!!!!!

    If you are asking whether or not every human deserves a chance at being a health member of society, then yes.

    what do you mean by deserve? Do you mean it like in the same way every human being deserves the right to self determination? or deserves their human rights? or deserves the right to be free? If you are walking down a road, and see a man bleeding laying in the middle of the road, does he deserve to be helped….or should he be left for the vultures to scavage? Does an american soldier who loves his country deserve to die invading and occupying a country that has nothing to do with the protection of his country? If americans who can’t afford adequate healthcare get some form of assistance by gorvernment and the assistance is coming from tax payer money than is it really government assistance or taxpayers assisting themselves?

    Sure, right after they give up their cell phones, PC, boutique clothes, dance club cover charges, alcohol, tobacco, sports cars, and spa treatments. I won’t even mention the crack man!

    DESERVE??! I think anyone claiming that they do not, as an argument against universal health care, is completely missing the point.
    the facts:
    -47 million Americans as of 2005 were without any kind of coverage.
    -that is 16% of the entire population
    -11% greater than the unemployed
    -82 million Americans(almost 1/3 of the entire population) spent a portion of 2005 without any form of coverage
    -15% of all employees were without company sponsored health coverage
    -80% of this number is either native or naturalized citizens
    -old diseases are reappearing with multi-antibiotic resistance
    -Nearly 40 percent of the uninsured population reside in households that earn $50,000 or more. A growing number of middle-income families cannot afford health insurance payments even when coverage is offered by their employers.http://www.nchc.org/facts/coverage.shtml
    With the amount of old diseases that are re-emerging with antibiotic resistance, and increased virulence, an outbreak with this many people without coverage, would make the plague of the 1700′s look like a day at the beach. If anything is a national security crisis, it is this.
    People seem to forget that being able to afford treatment isn’t going to completely prevent you from getting an infection, but reducing the chance of infection for the people you come in contact with, will greatly reduce your risk.

    The answer is yes.
    The right-wing disagrees, of course. But what they dont say is the ubly motivation behind their opposition. They define everyone in terms of stereotypes–as you can verify for yourself jsut by listening to them. Their stereotype of the person who cannot afford health insurance is someone who is black, or some other ethnicity other than their own “whte race.” And they do not want to allow non-whites an equal opportunity. The ugly truth: they think of anyone who is poor as black–or “non-white”–and hence “underserving.” Their opposition to universal access to health care is, in short, based on racial hatred and bigotry.

    Everyone deserves to be taken care of if they contribute to society. It’s the least a structured society like ours can do for the well being of our fellow Americans. I can afford it, but I would much rather have UHC for all. It’s not like we can’t afford it, it’s about priorities.

    no. it’s not right to break into a rich person’s home, steal his money and give it to other people who have less. just because the government may legalize theft and consider it some kind of tax doesn’t mean it’s right. imagine how much money would be given to charitable organizations that could help people like this if tax rates weren’t so damned high for everybody. instead we’ve got the government taking it’s cut and running things inefficiently.

    Why can’t they afford health insurance? Are they short of money because they are over-taxed? Basic healthcare is a public good, I admit, but why should I pay for straightening the smiles of Johnny Snaggletooth at his dentist?
