Neither, I have worked both, hospitals you have mandatory overtime, yuck. Doctors office is boring. I do home care now and take care of one client in his home and make double what I made at my last job. Matter of fact I am at work right now. Some people might think it is boring, but I like being able to read and go on YA at work.

    Before I got my self into med school I used to be an LVN for 4 years, and once I graduated from becoming an LVN, I started of working at an urgent care making about $13.50 an hr, then I went on to a private Cardiology office and that payed me just a tad bit more, but not too much. But it wasn’t till I had ended up working in the ER/OR at the local hospital that I was paid more, and I was on salary based pay and had much better benefits. But I can surely tell you that working in a hospital is much more work and longer hours, but the good thing was that I would only work 3-4 days a week and had the rest off, but the bad thing was that I had to work 12-14 hr shifts which were no fun and at times if they have you as an on-call nurse you might get asked to work either on weekends or holidays, but its those days that you’d get an incenative for doing so.

    Hostpital: More money (a lot more), more choices of shifts, more hours, more overtime, also, less days off, usually have to work every other holiday, have to work with lots of different people (could be good or bad)
    Private: Less money (a lot less), more time off, regular hours, off on holidays, get to work with a close group of people (could be good if you like them, bad if you don’t), if your boss sucks, your job sucks – no working in a different department or shift.
